1. WHAT WE HOLD
Your name, phone number, email and date of birth; your saved places; the pickup, drop and status of every trip; your wallet ledger; ratings you give and receive; support messages; emergency contacts you add; and your device push token when you register one.
2. LOCATION
Your location is used to find your pickup, to show you nearby captains, and to follow a trip in progress. The rider app does not collect your location in the background when you are not using it.
3. SHARING DURING A TRIP
Your matched captain sees your first name, your pickup and drop, and — while the trip is live — your position. Your phone number is masked. If you share your trip, the person you share it with sees the live map for that trip until it ends.
3A. CARPOOL PROFILES AND BOOKINGS
Carpooling is optional. If you add a carpool profile photo, biography or travel preferences, these are visible to other signed-in carpool members together with your public display name, ratings and verification status. Published pickup, drop-off and stopover meeting points are visible in carpool listings. Do not include a private address or contact details in your public biography or listing notes.
If you offer rides and choose DigiLocker verification, we receive the shared driving-licence evidence to check its holder, permitted vehicle category and validity. We retain the holder name, licence number's last four characters, expiry and verification time, and your entered vehicle details. DigiLocker authorization secrets, document XML and issuer photos are processed temporarily and are not retained as carpool profile files. DigiLocker may also supply the account holder's name, date of birth or gender to update your account details.
Carpool conversations are private to the passenger and driver for that booking. After a seat is confirmed, those parties can see each other's phone number and the driver’s vehicle registration number to arrange their meeting; these carpool calls use the number directly rather than a masked calling service. Carpool maps show the published itinerary and meeting points, not a continuously tracked vehicle location. The agreed contribution is paid directly to the driver.
4. PAYMENTS
Wallet top-ups are processed by a licensed payment gateway. RideNova never receives or stores your card number, UPI PIN or bank credentials — the gateway holds them. We keep the transaction record: amount, time, and the gateway's reference.
5. COMMUNICATION AND SAFETY
Login codes are authentication, not marketing, and cannot be switched off. Promotional messages are OFF unless you turn them on. The in-app SOS alerts RideNova's safety team and notifies your emergency contacts; it does NOT dispatch police or an ambulance. In an emergency in India, call 112 — the app puts that button first for exactly this reason.
6. RETENTION AND DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT
You can delete your account from the app, or from the page published at /account-deletion. Your personal details, saved places, emergency contacts and devices are removed. Completed trips, their tax invoices and the wallet ledger are retained for the period tax and consumer law require, no longer linked to you — invoices are statutory records, so the honest promise is that you are erased from them rather than that they disappear.
7. YOUR RIGHTS AND WHO TO CONTACT
You can see and correct your details in the app, withdraw marketing consent in notification settings, and delete your account. To raise a data concern, contact the grievance officer published under Profile → About → Operator.
